Erik ten Hag has named a 22-strong Man United squad for the Omonia Europa League away match.
Manchester United Football Club have the chance to take some sort of grip of their Europa League future over the next week or so, as the Red Devils gear up for a doubleheader against Cypriot side, Omonia.
First up comes the away match over in Cyprus. The lads travel out this afternoon, with the club looking to pick up all three points and ensure their Europa League campaign is firmly back on track.
Ahead of the match, the official club website has confirmed that the gaffer has chosen to take a 22-strong squad, including injury returnee Martin Dubravka. There’s also places in the squad for a trio of youngsters; Zidane Iqbal, Facundo Pellistri and Alejandro Garnacho.
Check out the confirmed 22-man United squad in full here:
Goalkeepers: De Gea, Heaton, Dubravka.
Defenders: Lindelof, Martinez, Malacia, Dalot, Shaw.
Midfielders: Fernandes, Eriksen, Fred, Casemiro, McTominay, Iqbal.Forwards: Ronaldo, Martial, Rashford, Antony, Sancho, Pellistri, Elanga, Garnacho.
As expected, neither Harry Maguire nor Raphael Varane are fit enough to make this trip, while both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek will also remain at home, presumably due to injury.
That said, the squad is still jam-packed with quality. The gaffer has already stated that he’ll name a solid side to go all out for the victory in this one – which makes the utmost sense given our current position in the group.
It feels like a great time to try get some minutes in the tank for the likes of Casemiro, Cristiano Ronaldo and maybe even the returning Anthony Martial.
Personally, I’d like to see Garnacho out there, though that may be unlikely given he played for the U21s on Tuesday night. Perhaps Ten Hag sees this as an experience for the young lads to travel with the squad for a European away game, just so they’re better prepared for it in future.
