Erik ten Hag has shared the latest on Alejandro Garnacho and his injury, ruling the Argentine out of a return vs Brighton.

Manchester United Football Club need three wins from their final six games to secure Champions League football for next season. It’s that simple.

The Red Devils will not have it all their own way, with some difficult fixtures on the horizon. Tonight, the 20-time Premier League champions take on Brighton down South. This will not be an easy match, with the opponents looking for FA Cup semi-final revenge.

There was a thought that United may well get some players back from injury, including Alejandro Garnacho. However, Ten Hag has now claimed it’s ‘too soon’ for the United star to return in this one. He’ll remain unavailable.

When asked about Garnacho’s availability vs Brighton, the gaffer said:

“I think we have one training [session], but I think it’s too soon to be available,” Ten Hag told the media, including ManUtd.com.

“I think he is short [of full fitness]. I think he needs some training and then, in short notice, he will be available.”

We’re now rapidly approaching the two-month mark without Garnacho – which has been a tough pill to swallow. Be it as a late substitute, or a starter, the teenager has always made an impact when involved in the line-up.

With time running out between now and the end of the season, Garnacho’s chances at further minutes this term are quickly whittling away. Even when he does return, it’ll take a couple of weeks to get fully up to speed.

I guess right now, it’s all about having him fully fit for the FA Cup final against Manchester City at the start of June. United will use the remaining league games to drip-feed him minutes and get him as close to 100% as possible.

No doubt Garnacho is feeling good about making his comeback, particularly as he’s just signed his new deal.
