Erik ten Hag has offered an encouraging Antony injury update, admitting he may be fit for the cup final.
Manchester United Football Club finished third in the Premier League, while adding a Carabao Cup to the trophy cabinet. There’s one more game on the horizon…
Erik ten Hag’s first season in charge has been superb. It could become a really memorable one with victory under those famous arches.
Last week, Antony picked up an injury that looked like a nasty one. Some media had the Brazil international ruled out for two months.
However, Ten Hag is seemingly feeling better about the situation, sending us all a positive injury update on the 23-year-old, claiming he will ‘probably’ be fit for the FA Cup final.
Check out what the gaffer had to say on Antony in full here:
“We have all seen he came out last Thursday, so it’s quite soon, but we think it’s not too bad,” Erik said to the BBC, per ManUtd.com. “He probably will be available for the cup final next week.”
First and foremost, I can’t tell if the gaffer was genuine or whether this was an attempt at mind games. He’s never been that way inclined in the past, so I’m leaning towards the fact that Antony could be fit.
However, he was spotted arriving at Old Trafford on crutches yesterday. How can he go from being unable to walk, to featuring in arguably our most intense match this year? It feels very optimistic.
I do hope Antony is ready to go, though. United play better football when he’s in the starting line-up. He has an impact both offensively and defensively, linking the play up and working hard for the cause.
Fingers crossed we’ll have him available. We’re going to need him!
