Erik ten Hag was full of praise for Luke Shaw, after putting in a top display for England vs Germany.

Manchester United Football Club return today, following a two-week hiatus due to international football.

Erik ten Hag will get his first taste of the Manchester derby here, with a tough game against City in the offing.

Ahead of the match, Ten Hag has admitted his delight at how well his players performed over the international break. It’s absolutely fair to say that the Reds thrived all over the globe.

One man, in particular, came in for praise from the gaffer; Luke Shaw. Ten Hag was also quick to point out the likes of Diogo Dalot, Fred, Casemiro and Bruno all played well, though he had more to say in regards to the Englishman.

Check out what the gaffer had to say on Luke Shaw’s performance vs Germany here:

“Ah, he didn’t play just well he played really well. I think we are happy with all the players because they did well with the nations and we followed them because that is one of our aspects.” Ten Hag told ManUtd.com.

“Luke Shaw played really strong against Germany and we saw a lot, we are happy with the performances from our players. It reflects well with what we are doing with players here at Manchester United and that reflects in this moment with the training this morning.”

It’s obviously a weird situation for Shaw. He’s been overtaken by Tyrell Malacia in the left-back pecking order, though that doesn’t make him a bad player.

Shaw is excellent within his own right, though his style is somewhat different to Malacia’s, hence, I can see Ten Hag utilising both in very different ways.

That’s not to mention that the season is very long. In this day and age, it’s rare that players can stay fully fit for the duration of the campaign, particularly with game every three days at some stages. No doubt about it, Shaw will get his fair share of minutes.

Do you think Luke Shaw can win back in his place in the side under Erik ten Hag? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
