Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Christian Eriksen will not make his injury return vs Brentford tomorrow – though he is edging closer.
Manchester United Football Club have been dealing with more and more injury issues as the season has wore on. Sadly, that was always going to be the case, given the fixture pile-up that the Reds have had to deal with.
Erik ten Hag’s side have managed it pretty well, though they’ve been struggling in midfield recently. Casemiro’s suspension coupled with Christian Eriksen’s injury has made things pretty tough at times.
However, Eriksen is on the mend. Not too long ago, he was doing some solo work as he prepares to make his comeback.
Now, we’ve been given a further update from the gaffer. Ten Hag has confirmed that the United star will not make his injury comeback vs Brentford tomorrow – though he has returned to team training today, meaning he’s edging closer.
“Not tomorrow,” Erik replied when asked whether Eriksen could be involved vs Brentford, per ManUtd.com.
“He is returning on the pitch, he is returning to team training today so we have to see how quick he can now make the progress.”
Honestly, this feels like quietly-important injury news. Eriksen is a major part of the way United play. He brings a calmness and a fluidity to the midfield – and without him, they do not have that.
It will likely take Eriksen multiple weeks to get fully up to speed after he has been out for a couple of months, though hopefully, he’s available for selection as early as this weekend when the Red Devils take on Everton. Simply put, the sooner he’s better to get back out on the field, the more confident we should all feel going into the business end of the term.
In terms of free signings, it doesn’t really get any better than Eriksen. He has been class and having him back available will be a huge bonus.
