Erik ten Hag is showing an interest in bringing Paulo Dybala to Man United.
I’d imagine that despite the fact he’s currently fighting it out for an Eredivisie title with Ajax, Erik ten Hag is already having input on the situation at Manchester United.
The Dutchman is the master planner. He likes to ensure full control is in his hands. Ten Hag will need time to overhaul this pretty disastrous Manchester United squad, but he has to start somewhere, right?
Edinson Cavani is leaving, Cristiano Ronaldo is ageing, Marcus Rashford blowing hot and cold, while Anthony Martial isn’t even here. A new forward is an absolute necessity.
Enter, Paulo Dybala. The claim comes from Italy, namely Corriere dello Sport. In an article discussing the Argentine’s future, CdS believe it’s the Old Trafford club making the strongest push to sign Dybala.
They say next season, Dybala will ‘most likely’ be playing in ‘another shirt’ Napoli are the first club mentioned, then, United are discussed.
It’s claimed United ‘seem to be serious’ about moving for the 28-year-old forward this summer, ‘at the push’ of the incoming Ten Hag. Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City all remain in the hunt – which tells you everything you need to know about Dybala’s ability.
Dybala strikes me as another one of those gamble signings. If it works out well, the attacker could be a sensational signing. Though it’s by no means a guarantee he can adapt to Premier League football and reach those elite levels.
Personally, I’d much prefer to see United move for a Premier League proven, world-class striker like Harry Kane. Though without Champions League football on offer, I’m honestly not sure if that’s possible this summer.
Perhaps this is why the Sebastian Haller rumours aren’t so daft after all, as we’re no longer dining at the top table…
