Erik ten Hag has shed some light on when we can expect to see Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro back in action.
We’re pretty bored of talking about Manchester United’s injuries right now, though it’s definitely impacting our season – and in a negative way.
The Old Trafford side have been dealing without major players for prolonged periods of time. It’s wreaking havoc on the field, as Erik ten Hag is unable to put out a consistent side as a result.
Two of our three best players have barely played this season. That’s obviously hard to take, as both Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro have been missing for large stretches of the first half of the campaign.
Now, the gaffer has shed some light on the situation, revealing that we shouldn’t expect neither Licha or Casemiro back until mid-January.
Check out what the gaffer had to say in full here:
“They [Martinez and Casemiro] are not available before Christmas. Mid-January, we expect them back.” Ten Hag told club media ahead of a pretty vital game against West Ham.
It’s unclear as to whether this is when they’ll be back in full training, or whether this is when they’ll be ready to get back out on the field in a competitive game. I’d imagine it’ll be the former, meaning we likely won’t see them back out on the pitch until February.
United just do not look the same defensively without Martinez. Fair play to Jonny Evans who is doing a decent stand-in job right now, while Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have both chipped in also, but Licha is our best centre-half by far.
Casemiro wasn’t having the best of seasons before his injury. He’s obviously still an incredible footballer, and the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo should help the man from Brazil upon his return to action. At least he’ll receive some form of help in the defensive third of the field.
