Manchester United have decided to part ways with Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United Football Club have been mulling over a coaching change for multiple months now. It felt like over the summer, the Red Devils were weighing up other potential options before deciding to stick with Erik Ten Hag.

INEOS never seemed fully settled on the Dutchman, particularly as he wasn’t their own appointment and as soon as the going got tough, Ten Hag was always going to lose his job. Now, the official club website has confirmed that the ex-Ajax manager has left his role at Old Trafford.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge in the interim, with the Dutchman now in control when United take on Leicester City in the Carabao Cup this Wednesday.

After winning two trophies in his first two seasons, Ten Hag bought himself a new contract and a third term in charge, though he hasn’t delivered so far this campaign…

It’s a real sad state of affairs, particularly as United spent massive money backing their man once again over the summer. Now, it means another hitting of the reset button and even more investments being made.

Now begins the search for a new long-term manager. Be it Ruben Amorim, Thomas Frank or someone completely out of left-field. I beg that INEOS take their time and do not rush into a decision. They have to get this appointment right and Sir Jim Ratcliffe will know that better than anyone.

For now, we wish Ten Hag the best moving forward. I’ve no doubt he’ll find another high level job soon and bring success to another club.
