Manchester United Football Club were victorious on derby day, though there was cause for concern over a Marcus Rashford injury.

Manchester United have done it. It always feels nice to get one over on the old enemy, though the manner with which the victory came today was particularly pleasing.

Allowing City, the best team in the country for years, just one shot on target, was some sensational defensive togetherness and work. Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff deserve all the praise in the world for that.

It was Marcus Rashford who’d score the eventual winner, after some scintillating work from Alejandro Garnacho down his flank. The stuff of dreams.

The Englishman Rashford hobbled into half-time with an apparent injury, though came out fighting in the second 45. After the game, during the post-match press conference, Ten Hag addressed the injury concern to Rashford, claiming that ‘he knows’ ‘you have to suffer’. Well, Rashy certainly got his rewards for putting himself through the pain barrier today!

“He learnt already, he knows. In top football you have to suffer, you have to sacrifice.” Ten Hag told the media, including Laurie Whitwell.

Honestly, I’m buzzing. As we all should be. United deserved the victory today. Make no mistake about that. There’s a genuine feeling that something could be brewing at the Theatre of Dreams here.

Rashford understands it more than most. He’s a red through and through. We’re super lucky to be able to call him one of our own. Hopefully, he can continue this brilliant form for the remainder of the season.

There are still some doubts about his availability for the midweek game due to the quick turnaround time, though I’d like to think that if it was just a bang, the Englishman can get himself ready to be involved.

Win in midweek and win next weekend away at Arsenal. Dare I say we’re in the title race…?

Do you think Marcus Rashford will be fit enough to start in midweek? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
