Erik ten Hag has spoken openly about Jadon Sancho and his struggles recently.
The Jadon Sancho situation is certainly intriguing. The Englishman is clearly dealing with some issues, both on-field and off-field. We wish him all the best.
United’s winger started the season well, though that initial promise fizzled out somewhat quickly. Sancho then found himself benched, suddenly, he was out of the squad completely. Something didn’t feel right.
Sancho has been on an individual training programme. He was supposed to return to the first-team fold this week. However, Erik ten Hag has offered a new update on the first-team star, admitting that he’s unsure when he’ll be back in the fold following some mental and fitness issues.
Check out what Ten Hag had to say on Sancho here:
“Sometimes there are circumstances with fitness and mood,” Ten Hag said per the BBC.
“He was not in the right status or fitness state.”
“I have had several talks with Jadon,” the boss added.
“He’s on a physical programme and our aim is to get him back as quickly as possible, but I can’t give a prognosis of when that will be.”
You just hate to see stuff like this play out. Sancho, a top class talent, is obviously struggling in some aspect of life. First and foremost, his own mental well-being has to be the priority. The good news? Ten Hag and Sancho seem to understand that.
I don’t doubt Sancho’s work ethic. He’s apparently been working with coaches recommended by Ten Hag himself – which is a huge positive.
It’s up to us fans to remain patient and allow Sancho to come back when he feels ready. Only then will we see the best of the Englishman.
Hopefully, he’s got a good support group around him, he remains focused and upbeat – then comes back to United with a real point to prove.
