Erik ten Hag to Man United is almost there, with the Dutchman leading the race to become our new boss.
Manchester United Football Club are edging closer and closer to their most important summer in years. Players will come and go, while a new manager will be appointed.
You’d assume Ralf Rangnick will have his say in that process. After all, he can surely identify the best man for this squad, after working with these players for the last few months.
The name that seems to be appearing with more frequency now is Erik ten Hag. The current Ajax manager has seemingly overtaken Mauricio Pochettino as the frontrunner for the vacant position.
Now, it’s being claimed by an Italian Sky Sports journalist that the manager is ‘very close’ to being named United’s new boss. However, there’s still work to be done.
Ten Hag is leading the race, but he wants a final answer from United as soon as possible. On top of that, compensation will not be an issue for the Old Trafford club.
Check out Angelo Mangiante’s response to a fan here:
The 52-year-old Ten Hag will bring a new style, fresh ideas and a willingness to promote from within. He’ll need time to acquit himself within that dressing room, while those players will need to approach this new regime with a positive mindset.
It’s also up to us fans to not get on Ten Hag’s back at the first sign of danger. We’ve done that with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Rangnick of late. But as things stand, I’m not sure any manager can succeed in this toxic environment that has been built over the last few years.
Ten Hag has all the potential in the world to go toe-to-toe with the likes of Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp. It’s a gamble, yes, but it’s a risk worth taking.
