Erik ten Hag wants full control of Man United’s transfer plans if he’s to be named manager.
Manchester United are close to appointing Erik ten Hag as their new manager, with the Dutchman looking extremely likely to be taking over this summer.
It seems as if the Old Trafford club have made their choice. Obviously, it’s a bold one. Ten Hag is a high-risk high reward hire and if the Dutchman gets it right, we could be in for a cracking few years under his watch.
As you’d expect, more and more snippets of information are coming out and the latest information from Fabrizio Romano is certainly intriguing…
Apparently, Ten Hag has asked to be ‘100% involved’ on the complete transfer strategy. Including new signings, new contracts and outgoings.
The current Ajax manager considers this a ‘key point’ of the rebuild, with new signings having to be ‘totally perfect’ for his overall idea and project.
Any manager worth their salt should be making demands like this. What’s the point in trying to majorly overhaul a club if you’ve got someone interfering all the time and signing players who don’t fit the system?
For too long, we’ve been held hostage by fringe players who are sitting there on massive wages, making them almost impossible to sell on.
Ten Hag has probably watched that situation play out from afar, and will likely refuse to commit to the Old Trafford club unless he’s given those guarantees. I fully understand where he’s coming from in that regard, because it’s like working with one hand tied behind your back.
Hopefully, the powers that be at United are willing to give up all this power. Because if that doesn’t happen, we’re risking the continuation of the gradual decline we’re currently in the middle of…
