Man United are once again being linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund ace, Erling Haaland.
After failing to sign Erling Haaland from RB Salzburg in January 2020, it seems as though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer isn’t giving up in his pursuit of his fellow Norwegian.
The story comes from Mundo Deportivo in their Monday print edition, translated by the brilliant Sport Witness. The story is based around FC Barcelona interest in the hitman, though they also covered interest from elsewhere – including United.
Apparently, the prolific 20-year-old, who has 31 goals in 30 games, is ‘on the agenda’ for United. That’s because current Reds star, Edinson Cavani, is expected to leave this coming summer.
MD state that Solskjaer’s positive relationship with the Haaland family could be a factor in the transfer race, though it’s noted it would be hard for United to complete the transfer.
Haaland’s insane ability goes without saying. He’s someone who fits the player profile that Solskjaer has shown a preference towards recently; Young, hungry, improving and someone who can make a contribution over many years.
I’ll be honest, though, I have major doubts about this one. Haaland is a winner. He’s going to want to win major trophies year-in-year-out. Right now, United aren’t top dogs in England.
Couple that with the fact his father played for the other team in our city, growing up with a hatred for everything Red, I’d assume we’re not Haaland’s first choice at this point in time.
In the end, I guess money talks. If United offer enough and can promise to deliver the biggest and best trophies, we may have a shot. I don’t see any movement on this transfer happening this summer, though.
