Ethan Galbraith has signed a new long-term contract at Manchester United.
The club confirmed the news just yesterday, with the United starlet committing his future to Old Trafford until 2023. United also hold the option to extend that by a further year if they so choose.
Galbraith, aged nineteen, has been at the club for over three years now and was one of eight academy graduates who made their first-team debuts last term.
The young midfielder has been impressive for United’s U23s this term, though no doubt he’s setting his sights far higher than that – hoping to force his way into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s long-term thinking.
Anyway, check out the photos of Ethan Galbraith after putting pen to paper on a new United contract, all-smiles alongside Solskjaer:
So what next for Galbraith?
Well, United certainly view him as someone who can play their role in the first-team. Just earlier this season, we covered a story which claimed as much.
Galbraith undoubtedly has the talent. However, the issue is his position. Being a midfielder, it’s going to be tricky for Galbraith to earn starts. You look at United’s game against Chelsea, when Donny van de Beek, Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic were all sat on the bench. It’s probably the area of the field where United are most stacked.
The good news is that Galbraith’s future is now secure. There’s no better place to hone your talents as a young player than at the Theatre of Dreams. Make no mistake about it, he’ll get opportunities to prove his worth. It’s now down to him to remain patient and take that chance with both hands when it comes his way.
All that’s left to say for now is congratulations, Ethan! We hope to see you firmly within the first-team soon.
