Ethan Laird medical complete as Swansea loan move edges closer: report

Ethan Laird has completed his medical tests ahead of a season-long loan move to Swansea City.

Manchester United have some truly brilliant talents coming from their academy at the moment. The likes of Anthony Elanga, James Garner, Shola Shoretire and many others are all on the first-team fringes.

Amongst my personal favourites and greatest hopes for the future is Ethan Laird. The budding full-back looked a cut above for MK Dons last season while on loan in League One.

He’s spent this pre-season struggling with an injury that he picked up at the back end of last term. However, he seems to be over the worst of that, now preparing to head out on another loan move.

Swansea City in the Championship is Laird’s destination, where he’ll once again link up with manager Russell Martin.

The scoop comes from the Swansea Independent, who on Sunday claimed that a Laird medical had been complete.

The top-class 20-year-old is edging closer to sealing a move away from Man United on loan, having been in the stands as Swansea played yesterday.

The Swansea Independent offer more details on Laird, highlighting just how much devil there is in the detail for United. From diet, to loan fees and wage demands, the Reds are ensuring that this is undoubtedly the best place for their bright starlet to spend the next nine months.

Although it may look a little drawn out from the outsiders looking in, it’s great to see United doing everything they can to protect their asset. Laird has huge potential and it’s vital this next step in his career is the correct one.

Fair play to the powers-that-be, the youth coaches and of course, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, for ensuring every little box is ticked before sanctioning this move.

Hopefully, it’s all confirmed soon and Laird can focus solely on his football.
