Ethan Laird has been named in the League One TOTW, following an outstanding outing for MK Dons last night.
Manchester United Football Club has never shied away from giving young players their opportunity on the biggest of stages. Sadly, though, there’s only so many minutes available.
It’s inevitable that the future first-teamers of tomorrow will have to go out on lone to perfect their skills. The mega-talented full-back, Ethan Laird, falls into that category.
Personally, I think he should already be backing up Aaron Wan-Bissaka in that right-back slot but I guess that’s irrelevant at this moment in time. Anyway, the young man has been spending the last month with MK Dons out on loan.
Laird has made a positive impression for the League One outfit and for his performance last night, the United loanee was named in the divisions’ Team of the Week. He’d excel in a dominant 4-1 victory over Rochdale.

Although Laird didn’t score or assist, his work-rate, on-ball quality and desire to win was noticed by League One – and it’s great to see the young man developing.
Aged just nineteen, Laird still has time on his side, though no doubt this five-month loan spell will do the Englishman the world of good.
He’ll come back to Old Trafford with confidence under his belt and ready to challenge for a spot in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans next term. I don’t doubt his ability to do exactly that.
Hopefully, they’ll be some sort of pre-season tour before the 2021/22 term and we’ll get a real glimpse of Laird in United colours in a friendly or two.
For now, we just want to say congratulations to Ethan, who is certainly heading in the right direction!
