Evan Ferguson is still on Man United’s transfer radar as we gear up towards a huge summer.
Manchester United Football Club are closing in on what is perhaps their most important transfer window in at least a decade. The fans are eagerly awaiting to see what sort of impact Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS will have.
Signings in many positions are needed as this squad is still some way off for competing for major honours. Among the top requirements is another forward. Anthony Martial is all set to leave, with Rasmus Hojlund carrying the sole burden through the middle of the attack. He needs help.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has provided an update on that front via his Substack. RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko seems to be the main target, though we’d like to focus in on the snippet of information claiming that Evan Ferguson is still an option.
According to the report, the 19-year-old striker is being ‘seriously discussed internally’ by Man United. Arsenal and Chelsea are also credited with an interest.
The Reds are seemingly eyeing another forward signing, preferably someone who can come in and support the aforementioned Hojlund, who has enjoyed a positive debut campaign here in Manchester.
Ferguson, who is also young, has endured a mixed season, scoring six goals across all competitions.
While it’s clear the Republic of Ireland international is still a raw talent, the ability and skill is blatantly there. Goals off either foot. Hold-up play. Strength. Speed. The young man has it all.
You can only assume that Ferguson’s development would only speed up if he made the move to Manchester, playing with a better quality player in training on a regular basis.
My one concern here is the fact that Brighton have absolutely no reason to sell. They’re not short for cash and Ferguson would cost a pretty penny. I fear the asking price may just be a little too high for United at this point.
