Man United may be in with a chance at signing Jarrad Branthwaite, with Everton being forced to sell the player this summer.

Manchester United welcomed Lisandro Martinez back into the first-team fold this weekend, which is a huge boost for the whole club.

In the long run, it does seem clear that Erik ten Hag will utilise ‘The Butcher’ as his first-choice left-sided centre-half. His partner is up for debate…

Harry Maguire was almost sold over the summer. Victor Lindelof has been on the chopping block for a while now. Raphael Varane is always injured. Although all have played well in fits and spurts, I doubt they’re the long term solution.

One name that has been linked with potentially coming in and solving those issues is Jarrad Branthwaite. The Everton man is in top form at present, proving himself as a vital cog in the Toffees system.

Now, talkSPORT have provided their latest information on that front – and it could be good news for the Reds.

Apparently, Everton face being forced into selling the United-linked defender to avoid running into further financial issues.

Branthwaite is wanted by both United and Real Madrid after establishing himself as a top tier defender this season.

As you’d expect, the player is said to be ‘high’ on Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s summer shopping list as we approach his first window in charge of United’s footballing operations.

Scouts have watched him ‘many times’, though interest from Real Madrid could make things complicated for the Old Trafford side. Both Arsenal and Newcastle United are also keen.

The problem for United could be that they’re no longer the force they once were, hence, players have second thoughts about making a transfer. You can have all the money available in the world, but if a player says no, then it all becomes irrelevant.

Do you think Jarrad Branthwaite would be a good signing for Man United? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
