Everton Football Club and their Supporters Forum have sent a brilliant message to Marcus Rashford during the game today.
We all know about the insane work Marcus Rashford is doing off the field. The superstar Englishman has been ensuring no kids go to bed hungry at night, even fighting the government in the process.
For one so young, the maturity Rashford is showing is beyond incredible. He’s not going to let this go away, either. Rashford will not stop until his ultimate goal has been achieved. He needs commending for that.
What the 23-year-old is doing goes beyond football. Sure, everyone would have loved to see him score against Everton today, but it wasn’t to be.
That didn’t stop our opponents sending a classy message to Rashford via their in-stadium scoreboard, though. This is brilliant.
It reads: “Thank you for sticking up for our kids who needed a voice, here on Merseyside and across the country.”
Seriously, all credit to Everton and their Fans’ Forum for this message to Rashford. It’s little touches like this which allows the whole footballing world to unite.
Us fans know that Rashford’s performances will continue. Heck, he’s just won our October Player of the Month award. It’s what makes what he’s doing off the field all-the-more impressive as he’s only placing himself right in the limelight for scrutiny.
Now, Rashford has a fortnight to try and recharge the batteries. There were whispers of an injury in the wake of today’s game from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but let’s hope it’s not serious. Perhaps it’s just a ploy to ensure Rashford is allowed to rest up, rather than going away to play with England over the next two weeks.
