Sergio Ramos will sign for Man United, according to the latest claims from Spain…

We’re not going to lie to you, we’ve been here before… Manchester United Football Club are being linked with a move to sign Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid.

I must admit, when I first saw the headline, I was sceptical. After reading the article, I still am. However, our job here is to bring you all the major United transfer stories from around the world. As they say, the show must go on…

This claim comes from Fichajes in Spain, translated by the guys over at Sport Witness. They go predictably-big, stating ‘everything indicates’ the world-class defender will sign for United – presumably on a free transfer.

Ramos’ current deal expires this summer, while there are no indications that fresh terms will be agreed, despite Real Madrid still trying to make that happen.

Apparently, Los Blancos are now accepting that Ramos is leaving, as they have put everything they can on the table to keep ahold of their talismanic defender.

To us, this all seems a little fishy. Ramos looks like he’s doing all he can in order to get himself a fresh, tasty, big-money contract. He’s done this before, using United as his leverage.

Sure, if Ramos is available then I’d absolutely love to see him at Old Trafford. However, I honestly don’t see it happening anytime soon. It’d be a bold decision by the Spaniard to move out of his comfort zone so late in his career. Would he really up-sticks and move his family to another country, away from their homeland?

In terms of fit, Ramos could walk into any team in world football. Though if I were a betting man, I’d suspect he’ll be donning that all-white strip come the start of the 2021/22 term.
