Ex-Chelsea boss amongst favourites to replace Jose Mourinho at Manchester United

From one ex-Chelsea boss to another possibly? That’s provided Jose Mourinho leaves, of course.

According to the Daily Star, and bookmaker Paddy Power, Antonio Conte’s odds of replacing Mourinho in the Manchester United hot-seat has been slashed. Now, the Italian is amongst the front-runners.

The 49-year-old is currently unemployed following his stint at Stamford Bridge, but at the moment, all the talk surrounding a potential Mourinho successor is about Zinedine Zidane…

Conte, a manager who is well-travelled, with Premier League experience no less, certainly wouldn’t be a bad idea. Don’t forget, this is a man who won the top-flight title at the first time of asking; beating out both Mourinho and Pep Guardiola in the process; that’s no mean feat.

We all know that Chelsea rarely give their manager time at the helm. At United, Conte could be given several seasons to mould, nurture and harness the playing squad into one that suits his unique style perfectly.

There are certainly worse options out there, that’s for sure. For now, though, we should give Mourinho our full backing, until the day comes that he either leaves or faces the boot…
