Ex-Red hints that Mourinho may lose his job with a loss to Liverpool

Manchester United vs Liverpool games are already hotly contested. This weekend’s clash at Anfield will be no different.

With that said, the two sides head into this one in completely contrasting form. Jurgen Klopp’s side have just hit the front, while United have only managed two wins from seven.

This game provides the perfect platform for United to drag themselves back into the top-four race, while sending out a real message to their rivals.

However, former United man, Robbie Savage, has hinted that the board may consider wielding the axe should Mourinho’s team get beaten.

“Both the margin of deficit and the identity of the Premier League leaders is difficult for the supporters at Old Trafford to accept.“ Savage told The Mirror, per the Daily Express.

“And although I do not like to see any manager sacked, especially someone who has achieved as much as Mourinho, you have to wonder how the United hierarchy might react if they are well beaten at Anfield this weekend.”

I don’t like to say it, but things could get ugly if Liverpool score early. Thankfully, we’ve had a decent record at Anfield while Klopp has been i charge, so here is to hoping that continues.

During games like these, form can sometimes go out of the window as players begin to dig deep to fight for the crest that is on their chest. You know stars like Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera are going to give 100%, so if the other lads can match the intensity set by these guys, then who knows what can happen…

Honestly, though, even if United lose, I don’t see Mourinho being sacked any time soon. Purely because I’m just not sure who can replace him…
