Fabrizio Romano praises Man United for the ‘underrated’ signing of Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich this summer.
Manchester United made a handful of signings this summer. INEOS heavily backed Erik ten Hag with new blood, while also clearing some dead wood from the squad at the same time.
There can be no more excuses for the Dutch manager, who has been handed his first choice signing in a variety of areas. Over the first few matches, one new face has certainly stood out; Noussair Mazraoui.
The right-back has started every game and acquitted himself well, despite wholesale struggles along the defence. The man from Morocco came straight into the side after only signing for the club 48 hours before the Fulham game and he has not looked back.
Now, while detailing his ten most underrated transfers, Fabrizio Romano has included Mazraoui in that list, labelling the signing a ‘great piece of business’ from the Old Trafford club.
Check out what Fabrizio Romano had to say in full here:
“For me, Noussair Mazraoui is an underrated transfer because he cost €15.00m + add-ons but he is a really versatile player.” Romano said to Football Transfers. “He can play left-back, right-back and he is a very smart player. I think his transfer value is a lot higher than what Manchester United paid for him. This is a great piece of business from Manchester United.”
Romano is bang on the money here. Mazraoui has been excellent and a genuinely surprising positive. I assumed he was coming in purely for depth purposes, but it may be tough to displace him from the team if he keeps up his current levels.
The fact that he can play at both right and left-back is another huge bonus, while he only cost around £12m which is nothing in this day and age.
You’d expect that Mazraoui will only continue to improve as he feels more comfortable in his new surroundings, too. It’s still very early days for the former Bayern Munich man, as he becomes more familiar with both his new teammates and Ten Hag’s style of play.
This is definitely a signing that represents genuine value for money.
