Fabrizio Romano says there is ‘no truth’ in Antony exit rumours from Man United

Antony is set to stay at Man United and fight for his place, amid exit rumours.

I think it’s fair to say that Manchester United’s current squad has its fair share of struggling players. The Old Trafford side are in trouble after three Premier League games following some poor performances.

Casemiro is copping some stick after a horror show against Liverpool, though he’s not the only Brazilian who hasn’t found any form recently. Antony, who cost the Red Devils a huge transfer fee, hasn’t been able to make any sort of positive impression whatsoever.

That has led to links suggesting a move away could be on the cards, with Fenerbahce the latest club showing an interest. Their transfer window in Turkey remains open so a move could theoretically happen.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, there is ‘no truth’ to those links. Instead, the attacker is ‘fully committed’ to the United project and he has ‘no intention’ of leaving the club this summer.

If the off-field issues Antony was dealing with are now firmly a thing of the past, he has a better chance at enjoying success here in Manchester. However, if he’s still struggling mentally, it just makes his job that much harder.

You also have to factor in the emergence of Amad on that right-hand side. The young man from the Ivory Coast has already overtaken Antony in the pecking order and I do wonder whether the Brazilian can get back into the team on a regular basis when everyone is fit.

One thing you do have to admire is the Brazilian attitude. Antony is a determined character who fully believes in his ability. I genuinely hope he proves us all wrong.
