Facundo Pellistri says first-team chance at Man United is his ‘dream’

Facundo Pellistri has admitted’ it’s a dream’ to get his first-team chance at Manchester United.

Back on transfer deadline day, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would sanction a move to sign the then-little-known Facundo Pellistri from Penarol.

A tricky winger, Pellistri would immediately find himself within the first-team Manchester United squad, making the bench for a couple of games in the early-going.

However, from that point forward, Pellistri would begin to feature for United’s U23s. Granted, it took him a few games to find his feet within the Red Devils’ youth setup but recently, Pellistri has started to impress everyone.

Recently, Pellistri would score in three U23s games on the trot as his stock continues to rise. Now, though, he’s eyeing a place within the Red Devils senior setup.

The emerging United youngster has recently been speaking to the club, admitting that he can’t wait for his first-team chance while hoping that a debut will come soon.

Check out what Facundo Pellistri had to say here:

“It’s a dream to have a chance in the first-team,” Pellistri is quoted as saying by the official @ManUtd Twitter account. “So I will fight for a place.”

“That is what I am working towards and hopefully I am going to have (my debut) soon.”

Let’s start with the good news. Pellistri plays in a position where Manchester United aren’t blessed with real depth, meaning the Uruguayan may not be too far away from a genuine opportunity.

The bad news? Amad Diallo is set to arrive at the Theatre of Dreams imminently. The Ivorian is coming to the club with a bigger reputation than Pellistri’s, meaning it wouldn’t be out of the question to think that the Atalanta man is immediately ahead of Pellistri in the pecking order.

It is worth noting that Pellistri has already settled to life in England, though, which does give him somewhat of an edge.

For now, it’s up to the young winger to keep working hard and patiently wait for his opportunity. Personally, I think we’ll see a first-team debut for him at some point this season, probably off the bench in a cup game or something of that ilk…
