Facundo Pellistri is all set to finalise a loan move away from Man United, heading to Spain this afternoon.

Manchester United’s squad is slowly thinning out, purely through Erik ten Hag’s choice. The Dutch gaffer has allowed the likes of Donny van de Beek and Jadon Sancho to depart on short-term deals, while several youngsters are following suit.

Earlier today, we covered a claim from the Manchester Evening News, who stated that Granada had revived loan interest in Facundo Pellistri.

Now, journalist Sebas Giovanelli has provided an update on that front – and it’s good news for Granada.

According to the journo, the United player is set to travel to Spain today, in order to seal a loan move away for the remainder of the season.

Pellistri is one of six fit first-team attackers at United, so letting the man from Uruguay leave would leave the Reds somewhat short in that area of the field. However, with so few games left remaining, it does make sense to continually thin out the squad.

We mentioned it on the site earlier. The fact that Pellistri couldn’t earn any minutes against Newport County is pretty damning.

He was playing semi-regularly at the start of the season, but those opportunities have since diminished. If not now, when? I honestly believe Ten Hag would move away from Pellistri permanently if he could.

This loan move does benefit someone like Amad, though, who is waiting for his opportunity after returning from injury. I hope we do see the Ivorian given some meaningful minutes as he deserves it.
