Luis Suarez has heaped praise on Facundo Pellistri, tipping him to go far within the sport in future.
On transfer deadline day in the summer, Manchester United made two signings. Edinson Cavani was the big-name addition, while it was his compatriot, Facundo Pellistri, who came in as the unknown quantity.
The winger, signed from Penarol, took a few U23 games to get settled in. However, when he’d fully adjusted, Pellistri looked a cut above – hence a loan move was sanctioned.
Pellistri would head to Deportivo Alaves to continue his development through regular playing time at first-team level. Unfortunately, the Uruguayan has only featured four times, though his talent isn’t going unnoticed.
The talented starlet has been tipped for ‘good things’ in football if he continues his development by none other than Uruguay international, Luis Suarez.

Suarez wrote: “A pleasure @facu_pellistri, continue like this and good things will come.”
Sure, we all love to hate Suarez for obvious reasons, though it is nice to see him supporting his countryman. Pellistri is a player who could make an impact for United in future but right now, it’s about continuing his development as a player.
It’s easy to forget that Pellistri is still a teenager who is learning his trade, while adapting to life in a completely new country, amid a global pandemic, obviously wouldn’t have been easy.
Although he’d probably have liked to play more, Pellistri will be coming back to Old Trafford a better player this summer, having had that taste of life within a first-team setup.
Pellistri and youngsters like him are the main reason why I hope we get a pre-season this summer. It gives the next generation a chance to prove their worth at the highest level before the serious action begins. With our right-wing problems still evident for all to see, why not give him a shot if that position isn’t addressed in the transfer market…?
