Falcao admits he tried to lure Di Maria to join him before Manchester United move

Manchester United’s summer of big spending came as a surprise to many [myself included], as under the Glazers, we’ve usually been limited to signing youngsters and developing players from within our academy. However, it looks as though the club have finally realised that they need to spend to compete.

The signings of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao were probably the two biggest transfer dealings of the summer [Suarez aside], and El Tigre has admitted that he tried to lure Di Maria to his previous side – AS Monaco.

Whilst speaking to FOX Sports, Falcao said:

“He’s a key player, compliments are short in order to describe him. When I was at Monaco I tried to get him to join me there.”

He then went on to thank the Manchester United fans once more:

“It all has been wonderful, the fans since the moment I stepped out onto the pitch and even before they all showed me affection and it’s always great to come to such a big club and have that kind of welcoming.”

Both Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao look set to play against Leicester City on Sunday, and if the pair can form an understanding off the pitch, they may well be unstoppable.

Who’ll be the most important player for Manchester United? Radamel Falcao or Angel Di Maria?
