Manchester United’s out-of-favour full-back, Matteo Darmian, is being targeted by Juventus, according to Calciomercato, translated by the Manchester Evening News.
The Italy international has seldom seen the field recently, largely due to some excellent performances from both Ashley Young and Luke Shaw in the left-back role.
Now Serie A giants Juventus are keen on signing the former Torino man, and bringing him back to his home country.
Apparently, if Darmian wants the move, he’ll have to accept a pay-cut to move to Turin, which is obviously a big decision at this point in his career.
After a strong start at Old Trafford, things rapidly went downhill for the right-back, and honestly, I’d drive him to Juventus myself. He’s slow, positionally unaware and just an awful footballer.
I’m still trying to work out why a top-class side like Juventus wants to sign him, but, the only thing I can think of is the fact that he’s Italian and Darmian knows what it takes to play in the Serie A.
For me, the left-back slot is now Luke Shaw’s, while when Antonio Valencia returns from injury the right-back position is obviously his. I see no way back for Darmian, so sell him now while he still has some transfer value.
