FC Barcelona have Anthony Martial on their list of potential transfer targets.
When Anthony Martial burst onto the scene with that goal against Liverpool, Manchester United genuinely believed they had a future Ballon d’Or winner on their books.
The first couple of seasons saw a Martial back up his own hype, though from the moment Jose Mourinho was appointed, we’ve seen the Frenchman fluctuate between sheer brilliance and genuine disaster. This season, it has been more of the latter.
Honestly, recently it looks like Martial just cannot be bothered putting the effort in, which is why he’s either on the bench or out of the matchday squad entirely.
Well, he could possibly be on the move in the not too distant future, with FC Barcelona interested. The story comes from Mundo Deportivo, with the translation via our friends over at Stretty News.
Apparently, the European giant are eying a move for the United star, in the event that they cannot sign Ferran Torres from Manchester City.
MD go on to state that Martial is ‘not enjoying the continuity he would like’ at Old Trafford, having only featured in six games this term (starting just two of those).
Right now, competition for places in the XI is tough. Though here’s where things become intriguing. We have no idea what sort of team Ralf Rangnick is likely to opt for – perhaps Martial is in his plans…
That picture will become clearer when the German arrives in Manchester following the 63-year-old obtaining a work permit. Whisper it quietly, but I genuinely believe Martial is someone who could potentially flourish under United’s new interim manager, so these talks about the Frenchman leaving may well be placed on hold…
