As the summer transfer window draws to a close, Manchester United finally look set to bring a new face to Old Trafford; Marouane Fellaini. The big Belgian has been linked with United throughout pre-season, and Moyes looks set to get his man on deadline day, according to reports in Belgium and the Sunday People.
The deal is thought to be in the reigion of £36m, with United starlet Jesse Lingard going to Merseyside on a season-long loan as part of the move. If this does turn out to be true, it does make you wonder as to why Moyes didn’t activate Fellaini’s £23.5m release clause before the end of August. If United would’ve activated that clause, not only would Fellaini be more familiar with his teammates, he could’ve been utilised in the big games against Chelsea and Liverpool.
It looks as though the 25-year old played his last game for Everton yesterday, as they drew 0-0 away at Cardiff. The Belgian only agreed to turn out for the game after talks with Roberto Martinez, who pleaded him to play one last time for the Toffees.
Moyes also tried to persuade left-back Leighton Baines to join him at Manchester United, but apparently the 29-year old England international hasn’t asked for a transfer.
