It was to be expected anyway, but the boss has confirmed that changes will be made for the FA Cup fifth round tie against Reading on Monday night after the Reds left everything on the pitch in Madrid on Wednesday night. Sir Alex also added that Reading won’t be taken lightly because of their recent form.
Over the coming weeks we’ll definitely see a fair bit of squad rotation due to participation in two cup competitions as well as the league. When quizzed upon the matter the boss replied: “It’s not easy to rotate but it has to be done. The biggest responsibility lies with myself in picking the right team.” He added. “Nothing will be taken for granted against a Reading side in decent form. “In the FA Cup, you always expect the unexpected.”
The most important point from the pre-match press conference is that the squad picked up no fresh injury concerns, although Scholes is still sidelined with a knee problem.
“We’ve come through Wednesday night’s game with any injuries, rhat’s the best thing, apart from the result of course.” Sir Alex said.
“I’ll make changes for Monday night. It’s an incentive to get to the quarter-final. There’s a good spirit in place and they’re all contributing. Whatever side I pick I expect to qualify. That’s United. We’re always expected to win.
