Manchester United made relatively hard work of it, but the Red Devils managed to overcome Norwich City in extra-time to book their place in the FA Cup’s last four.
The game itself was a pretty drab affair in truth, but all that matters is progression in the oldest cup competition in the English game.
Ole Gunnar Solslkaer’s decision to heavily rotate definitely was a factor, though can you blame him given how many games are to be played over the next few weeks?
Anyway, for their brilliant individual performances, no fewer than five United players found themselves in WhoScored’s Team of the Quarter-Finals – richly deserved, too!
First up, we have Odion Ighalo, whose 7.15 rating was the lowest in the team. Nonetheless, his goal was mightily important as it set United on their way.
In midfield, Bruno Fernandes’ inclusion is unsurprising. He scored an 8.36, most notably due to his chance creation and extreme work ethic.
United had three defenders in the XI and it’s hard to disagree with any of them. Luke Shaw had his best game post-lockdown, while Diogo Dalot looked solid defensively.
The pick of the bunch, though, and the highest-scoring player on WhoScored’s rating system was Harry Maguire. The Englishman marshalled his defence brilliantly, while scoring the all-important goal deep into extra-time.
Well played, fellas!
