Five potential David de Gea replacements for Man Utd

The future of David de Gea is certainly up in the air at the moment, and honestly its tough to tell which way this one is going to go. Louis van Gaal clearly has plans in place if the worst does happen, so lets have a look at a few potential replacements for the Spaniard.

Victor Valdes

The easy option. Victor Valdes signed for the club on a free transfer in January, and made his full debut for the club against Hull on the final day of the season. That game told us that he is an outstanding shot-stopper, but lacks any physical presence. Very much like David de Gea in 2012.

Petr Cech

The choice that guarantees success. Petr Cech has been in the Premier League for years now, and its a shame to watch a goalie of his talents waste away on the Chelsea bench. He will move on this summer and he’d be a fantastic addition to our side.

Hugo Lloris

The expensive selection. Tottenham always drive a hard bargain and always command top dollar for their players. Lloris wouldn’t be available for anything less than £25-30million, but he does know the Premier League. He can make a few mistakes though, which would be a worry.

Asmir Begovic

The cheap deal. Begovic is looking likely to leave Stoke for less than £10million this summer, and the Bosnian is often linked with a move to a bigger club. For me this would be a shrewd piece of business by Van Gaal, but there are definitely better keepers out there.

Bernd Leno

The gamble. Leno is young, but extremely talented. The 23-year old is plying his trade for Leverkusen at the moment and is touted as the next big thing in terms of goalkeepers. He would be expensive and there is risk in this deal, but Leno could turn into one of the worlds best in a few years time.
