Former goalkeeper says David de Gea should be dropped for Romero

Manchester United Football Club pulled off one of the deals of the summer when David de Gea eventually signed a new contract at the club, after his proposed move to Real Madrid fell through. Since then he has been reinstated as United’s number one goalkeeper, but a former shot-stopper thinks otherwise.

David James, who has plenty of Premier League appearances for various clubs, has stated that Romero is a more commanding keeper than the Spaniard, and he should play.

David James: “United have started conceding since David De Gea has returned. Romero is more commanding & he should play.”

These really are bizarre comments from David James. He either doesn’t watch much Manchester United football at all or he’s drunk.

Sergio Romero did look solid for the first few games but he was always prone to that error – hence why he was released by his former club Sampdoria.

At the end of the day, Sergio Romero is nothing more than a backup, and that was made evident when he conceded two sloppy goals away at Swansea to throw away three points.
