Former Hannibal Mejbri coach heaps praise on young midfielder

Hannibal Mejbri continues to be showered with praise, as he continues to learn his trade at Man United.

Over the last few years, Manchester United have continued to hoover up some of the best young talents in the world. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made some brilliant young signings here at Old Trafford, acquiring players who he hopes can make a first-team impact in the not too distant future.

I’d argue that Hannibal Mejbri is the best of them. The midfielder was signed from AS Moncao in a pretty hefty deal (£8m), given his age.

After some scintillating performances at both U18 and U23 level, I don’t think Hannibal is too far away from making the first-team jump. I actually expected the Frenchman to head out on loan this term – though perhaps Solskjaer believes he’s too good to send away, just like Mason Greenwood was at that age.

Now, Reda Bekht, who coached Hannibal at PSG, has heaped the praise on the United starlet, who he likens to Paul Scholes and claims Hannibal will make a first-team impact.

Check out what he had to say here:

“The Premier League requires a lot of athleticism and a strong physical capacity. He can still grow more muscle. If he passes this milestone and does not pick up any injuries, he will win over [Solskjaer] I am sure.” Bekhti told First Time Finish.

“He can become a future Paul Scholes at Manchester United. He has all the qualities in midfield to become a leader.”

This is high praise indeed. Hannibal is still learning, aged just 18, there’s plenty of room for growth.

I actually don’t think it’s beyond the realm of possibility to suggest that Hannibal is the reason why United haven’t gone all-out to sign a midfielder this summer. Why would they do that if the club firmly believes Hannibal can be their future?

This is someone who looks like a top talent, playing in a Paul Pogba-esque style. Sure, he’ll need time to fully grow into his frame and adjust to the Premier League level, but at United, he’ll always be given that – particularly with Solskjaer, who is as patient as they come.

It’s up to Hannibal to try to remain grounded and develop at his own pace. Be that next week, next month or next year, United know they have a real star in the making on their hands.
