Four Man Utd players have been named in Gary Neville’s Team of the Season for 2020/21.
For so long, Manchester United have been a bit ‘meh’. The Red Devils would often miss out on the top four, while putting in pretty dull performances week-in-week-out.
It’s fair to say Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has brought the excitement back to Old Trafford over the last couple of years. He’s returned this club to their roots, reinstalled the ‘United DNA’ and signed some excellent players.
Sadly, our title chase was ended a few months ago but the progress is there for all to see. Team of the Season’s are often a good barometer in regards to how far we’ve come and it’s nice to see four Reds in Gary Neville’s Premier League Team of the Season.

Any side with credentials is built from the back. He gets an awful lot of stick, some of it unnecessary, but I’m struggling to find someone who deserves this inclusion more than Harry Maguire. Our English centre-half didn’t miss a minute of Premier League action for United until this weekend. That reliability deserves to be rewarded. Now, we’ll get to see just how bad we are without him…
Next up is Luke Shaw, United’s most improved player over the last twelve months. The ex-Southampton man is widely regarded as the best left-back in the country right now and all credit to him for turning things around.
Bruno Fernandes was the obvious selection. Heck, you simply can’t leave a man with 44 goal contributions, across all competitions, out of sides like this. Right now, he’s my PFA Player of the Year.
Finally is Marcus Rashford. Although playing injured for much of the campaign, United’s #10 has 32 goal contributions of his own, which is insane when you think about how many different positions he’s been used in. That alone warrants his selection.
Well played, Reds!
Stay tuned, we’ll have Jamie Carragher’s Team of the Season for you later…
