Manchester United Football Club finds themselves on a nice thirteen-game unbeaten run. Credit to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his players for that.

The Red Devils’ up-turn in form coincides perfectly with the arrival of Bruno Fernandes, who has been absolutely masterful in the heart of midfield.

However, he’s not the only midfielder enjoying life at Old Trafford right now. Brazilian Fred is playing at an extremely high level, which is somewhat of a relief given how poor he was during his first season at the Theatre of Dreams…

Well, according to The Sun, the now key United midfielder is ‘ready to sign’ a new, long-term contract after his ‘stunning turnaround in form’.

SunSport say he wants to pen an extension on his current, £130,000-a-week deal which has three years to run. Of course he wants a bump up in pay…

The proof is in the pudding. Fred has been pretty great over the last six months or so, though I’m not sure we should be giving him a new contract just yet. Three years is a long time, particularly for a man who struggled in the first twelve months of his time in Manchester.

Let’s see if he can continue that form until the season’s end, then maybe it’d be worth considering for Solskjaer.

It also depends on Paul Pogba’s situation. If he stays, that’d presumably mean a reduction in minutes for Fred, which is obviously something he wouldn’t be happy with…
