Manchester United new signing Fred will wear the #17 jersey for the 2018/19 season.
The 25-year-old, who signed from Shakhtar Donetsk, will take Daley Blind’s old number, before the Dutchman moved to Ajax. That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, via their official club outlets.
There was talk suggesting that Fred would be only the third person to wear the #16 jersey in the Premier League era (an honour previously bestowed by just Roy Keane and Michael Carrick), but it looks as though he’s gone one up from that with #17.
After a summer of anticipation, it looks as though we’re finally drawing towards seeing our new man in action. Many thought he’d make at least one appearance during the World Cup for Brazil, but that didn’t happen as he was nursing an injury issue.
Thankfully, he’s now in full training with his new teammates and gearing up towards the new season. Who knows, the fact that he didn’t play could well be a blessing in disguise, as he’ll be feeling far fresher before the big kick-off on August 10th.
Hopefully, he’s everything we think he’s going to be and more. We’re obviously talking about an extremely bright talent, now it’s time for him to let his feet do the talking.
