Manchester United have sacked Jose Mourinho, now, the search for a replacement begins.
The Red Devils’ have confirmed that an interim manager will be appointed until the season’s end, then, in the summer, all attentions will be focused on finding a new permanent boss.
Today, according to the Daily Mirror, the leading favourite to take charge at Old Trafford is former United centre-back, Laurent Blanc.
This is a man who’ll know the club fairly well, and putting him into the hot-seat on a short-term basis wouldn’t be the dumbest idea.
However, if you’re expecting to see an improved playing style, then that’s not Blanc. In fact, I’d argue that he’s more defensive-minded than Mourinho.
But, then again, this is only an interim appointment. Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with leaving it in Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna’s hands until the end of the campaign, because at least we’ll have a go, play some exciting football and get back to our traditions and mantras.
I guess it’s all about getting the next permanent appointment correct. This club is in a mess at the moment, and perhaps it’s fourth-time lucky for Edward Woodward.
