From Sky: Manchester United reject offer for supremely talented 22-year-old

Well, it certainly looks like Manchester United will be a selling club during this January transfer window. A move for Morgan Schniederlin to Everton has already gone through, as Jose Mourinho is seemingly content with trimming his squad for the second half of the campaign.

Now Sky Sports News say that their sources are telling them Manchester United have rejected a bid from Lyon, as they are trying to secure the services of Memphis Depay. Their reporter Kaveh Solhekol took to Twitter shortly afterwards, to confirm that United want a permanent move for Memphis who has failed to impress. The report says that Lyon didn’t meet the Red Devils’ valuation, and that’s why the bid was rejected.

Check out Sky Sports News’ tweet here:

There is absolutely no question that the 22-year-old Depay is a supremely talented individual, which is backed up by the fact he won the Eredivisie Player of the Year award in his final season with PSV before he moved here.

Sadly, he just hasn’t adapted to life in his new surroundings which was obviously never going to be easy. He did have plenty of chances under Louis van Gaal, but he rarely took them. Under Jose Mourinho he has found minutes much more limited, and now in my opinion, a move away is exactly what is needed for the Dutch winger.
