Galatasaray are working hard to try and sign Christian Eriksen, before the end of their transfer window.
Manchester United’s transfer window has been heavily focused on outbound players. Erik ten Hag is looking to trim down his squad due to fewer games being played after our Champions League exit. On top of that, funds are having to be raised to comply with FFP restrictions.
The window in England did shut last week, though across Europe, some windows remain open. Take Turkey for instance, they are free to sign players until this Friday.
According to Fotomac, Galatasaray are hoping to take advantage of that late deadline, by trying to sign Christian Eriksen from Manchester United.
The Turkish giants have a few days to push what would be a surprise deal over the line, though I have no doubts that Eriksen would be a top tier signing if Galatasaray could pull it off.
From a United standpoint, I can see arguments both for and against selling Eriksen. He’s a fringe player following the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo, while his minutes will only reduce when Mason Mount gets fit. The Dane is also getting up there in age.
With all that said, Eriksen is unique in some ways. His passing ability, crossing quality and on-ball vision is arguably second to non within that dressing room. He’s also very experienced and that can sometimes be vital.
I’d be very wary about letting Eriksen leave this month, purely for depth purposes, as no doubt he will get his fair share of minutes between now and the end of the season.
