Alejandro Garnacho has reached an agreement in principle with Man United, and is set to sign a new contract.
New contracts for some players is arguably atop the agenda for Manchester United right now, with first-teamers Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot having deals that are winding down.
Another player whose due to be extended soon is Alejandro Garnacho. The Argentine has a deal until 2024, though his first-team role is always increasing, thus, fresh terms always looked likely.
Well, the latest report from ESPN is good news for the Old Trafford club. They state that United have reached an ‘agreement in principle’ with the starlet over a new five-year contract.
The deal is all but done, pending a few minor details in regard to image rights.
Negotiations on this new contract started a few months ago, with Garnacho’s salary set to be adjusted according to his new status within the first-team fold.
His earnings will progressively improve as Garnacho continues to increase his role within the United setup, with the club hopeful of everything being tied up within a few weeks.
It goes without saying, this is smart on United’s part. Garnacho is a massive talent and clubs will start sniffing around to see whether they can sign him in a cut-price deal.
Garnacho and his family will understand that he is developing nicely here at the Theatre of Dreams, while being given regular minutes for one of the biggest clubs in the world. It does make sense for the club to tie the Argentine down to new terms sooner rather than later.
A five-year deal gives the club so much more control in this situation, meaning United will not have to worry about losing Garnacho for at least a few years.
