Gary Neville chooses his Manchester United Player of the Season

Manchester United have begun to found some consistency under Jose Mourinho, with the Red Devils putting in some quality performances of late. The self-proclaimed Special One is beginning to have an impact on the playing squad, and we’ve started to climb up the Premier League table.

One player who has been supremely impressive all season is Antonio Valencia. The former Wigan man has been converted down to a right-back over the last couple of seasons, and he has taken to that position like a duck to water.

Every week, the 31-year-old puts in a shift for the team on both sides of the ball, and he really has turned into one of the best full-backs in the country.

Now a former legendary right-back has had his say on the situation. Gary Neville was asked about the performances of Antonio Valencia this season, whilst on commentary, and the English pundit was quick to praise his former teammate:

“He would be my player of the season if I was casting my vote.” Neville is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

I think that we really are watching an excellent player right at the peak of his powers at the moment. For me, Valencia should be our Player of the Season, although I’m sure the likes of Ander Herrera and Zlatan Ibrahimovic will run him close.

I guess what happens in the final few games of the season will be absolutely vital, but my vote will certainly be going in the direction of the Ecuadorian.
