Gary Neville heaps praise on Man United’s Brandon Williams

Manchester United Football Club have booked their place in the FA Cup fourth round – thanks to a slender 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Red Devils’ goal came courtesy of a lovely Juan Mata dink over the goalkeeper, though it’s the defence that deserves huge credit. Keeping out that quick, strong Wolves attack for 90 minutes is no mean feat. Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all did marvellously. However, it’s Brandon Williams stealing the headlines amongst the fans.

The 19-year-old has definitely come of age over the last month or so, and no doubt Luke Shaw is definitely worried about getting his place in the team back.

Anyway, this morning, United’s legendary full-back Gary Neville heaped praise on the emerging United starlet after the Wolves victory.

He really is a joy to watch. More than anything, Williams is a fighter. He’ll go toe-to-toe with anyone and more often than not come up trumps.

Williams has pace and puts in the effort on both sides of the ball for 90 minutes – just ask Adama Traore and Pedro Neto – who kept chopping and changing because our left-back was doing such a good job on them both.

It’s always delightful watching academy products thrive in the first-team and this one truly has come out of nowhere. Although he was solid for United at youth level, I don’t think anyone expected him to be this good, this quickly.

As Neville says, he’d do absolutely anything to win a football match. No doubt he’ll need every bit of fight in him when he goes up against Liverpool on Sunday…
