Gary Neville has jokingly urged Manchester United to make their move for Manchester City’s transfer target, Aymeric Laporte.
The Old Trafford legend took to Twitter to suggest that during his time in Spain, the former right-back played against him three times while he was manager with Valencia; and Laporte clearly impressed.
Obviously, this news comes in the wake of the Red Devils swooping in and stealing Alexis Sanchez from under Manchester City’s nose, and Neville seems to want something similar to happen again here.
In my very short time in Spain we played them 3 times ! This lad can play! Get in United … ? https://t.co/p3Bcqol4lH

While it would be absolutely hilarious to see United steal two City transfer targets, I’m not sure Jose Mourinho would be willing to sign a second player in the January window, particularly without selling someone first.
Sky Sports say that Pep Guardiola is considering offering £60million to sign Laporte, which is surprising to me, given the fact that they wouldn’t pay half that in order to sign Sanchez – which is a story for another day entirely.
At the end of the day, I think it’s all in jest from Neville and it’s all good fun. Laporte is a fantastic player, though, and whichever Manchester club signs him will be getting a vast upgrade on what they have already.
