The last 24 hours of Gianluca Di Marzio’s reporting on Manchester United is music to the ears of the Old Trafford faithful.
Yesterday, we covered a story from the well respected Italian who claimed that a move for Harry Maguire was all-but done.
Yesterday afternoon, Di Marzio was back at it again with another huge update. This time around, he is claiming that United are just ‘one step away’ from closing a deal for the prolific 24-year-old midfielder, Bruno Fernandes.
Apparently, the negotiations between United and Sporting are in the final stages for the midfielder who was sublime in front of goal last term – scoring 32 times while tacking on 18 assists for his teammates.
No fee is mentioned by Di Marzio, but I’d be surprised if a deal is reached for anything less than the £50-60million mark. We’re talking about a player whose best years should still be ahead of him, while Sampdoria will be due 10% of any transfer fee due to a clause in his contract.
When Paul Pogba is struggling or missing, United desperately lack any creativity whatsoever. Perhaps the fact that the mercurial Frenchman very nearly left kick-started the Reds into action and that’s why they’re seemingly prioritising a move to sign the Portuguese hot-shot Fernandes this summer…
