Gianluca Di Marzio reveals length of Fred’s Man United contract, announcement today

Manchester United are expected to announce the signing of Fred tomorrow. The Brazil international will sign a five-year deal at Old Trafford.

That’s according to the usually reliable Gianluca Di Marzio, who tweeted the news last night.

Fred is set to become Jose Mourinho’s first signing of the summer, as the self-proclaimed Special One continues to reshape and remould the United squad.

The 25-year-old has had an excellent season for Shakhtar Donetsk and more than deserves his move to an elite club. Thankfully, he’s chosen the Theatre of Dreams as his next destination – and I simply cannot wait for him to get started.

It’s great to (hopefully) get the deal done before he heads to Russia. If he has a good tournament, interest in him will only heighten, but credit to Edward Woodward for working quickly on this one.

He’s already passed his medical and agreed to a deal, if Di Marzio is right, we’ll be seeing that typical picture of a new Manchester United signing holding the shirt aloft at some point today. Fingers crossed.

The first chance you’ll get to see Fred in action will be June 10th, when Brazil take on Austria in a pre-World Cup friendly.
