Stuart Pearce named his 18-man squad this afternoon and as widely rumoured, Welsh wizard Ryan Giggs is named as one three over-age players. 23-year old central midfielder Tom Cleverley also makes Pearce’s squad.
Here is the squad in full:
Squad: Jack Butland, Jason Steele, Ryan Bertrand, Steven Caulker, Craig Dawson, Micah Richards, Neil Taylor, James Tomkins, Joe Allen, Tom Cleverley, Jack Cork, Ryan Giggs, Aaron Ramsey, Danny Rose, Scott Sinclair, Craig Bellamy, Marvin Sordell, Daniel Sturridge.
Sir Alex Ferguson already confirmed that Giggs would be the only over-age player who he would allow to play for team GB. It was also widely expected that Tom Cleverley would make the squad, Chris Smalling’s exclusion seemingly means that he’s unavailable due to injury which could potentially rule him out of the start of the Premier League season.
