Gossip: Manchester United chase £100m Angel di Maria signing

Following the weekend defeat to Swansea City, Louis van Gaal is aiming to strengthen his squad by adding Real Madrid midfielder, Angel Di Maria, in a deal worth £100m over 5 years, claims the Daily Mail. The 26-year old had the season of his life last time around, but Real Madrid are keen to sell the Argentine.

The newspaper claims that United are willing to pay £50m for Di Maria, who would earn £200,000 a week over the course of a  five-year contract.

Di Maria has been chased by French champions PSG, but they have apparently pulled out of the race as Financial Fair Play takes a grip of the clubs money situations. They’ve already spent big on David Luiz, and would risk punishment if they were to bring the Argentine winger into the French capital.

Doubts remain whether Di Maria would want to join United who are not in the Champions League this season, but he would certainly be a fantastic addition to our squad. His versatility is one of his biggest plus points, and he’d certainly be the marquee signing all the fans want to see.

The article also says that United are still in the hunt to add Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo from Ajax and Sporting Lisbon respectively.
